"Herris is the GOAT. He has been an amazing mentor and friend. He provided a place to be goofy and also gave words of extreme wisdom. He is the most influential person I have ever met. I don't know what I will do every day for the next 3 years without fent every day. He has made me a better person. He points out where I go wrong and highlights my good. He also shares his monster with me. He is the goat."

"Herris has given me the opportunity to actually look at myself as a leader. I see Herris being a head prefect, being a great ID student, and I want to do that too. As corny as it is, sometimes when im in ID and I'm struggling. I ask what would Herris do? I use that question to guide me and I'll continue to do so. Now, when I become a Senior. I wanna be in Herris's role and possibly be a head prefect. I know its gonna take a lot but I believe I can do so, because I have someone (even if its for a little bit) to help me."

"HERRIS FENTRESS! Where do I start? Coming into iD, we had high expectations of him because of his illustrious music career (Yam Cat™ etc), and over the past four years, he has overwhelmingly exceeded them. I've been called into official contract meetings over the use of N301 for lunch, witnessed pitches in bee suits, seen tremendous academic growth, seen tremendous height growth (HOW IS A HUMAN THAT TALL?!), laughed a lot, learned a lot, and hopefully taught some too. I'm so glad we've gotten to travel together; Texas was a formative memory for me as both a teacher and just a human in general, and Japan... come on. The future is INSANELY bright (or should I say party rocking?) for Herris, and I hope to always know him."

"Herris you are truly one of a kind. I'm in awe that you take all of your work so seriously while being so funny! You have never cheated yourself out of a learning opportunity.

I remember reading your iD application, and I knew as soon as I heard Yam Cat, that you were a perfect fit. Little did I know that you would bookend that genius with a Reinking collab of my beloved Don Gato, which might be the greatest gift any students have ever given me. That could be second only to the card you guys made and delivered to my house after my ankle surgery. I love the pic of you and Frankie petting the cats, Itchiro & Henry, that day. That still makes me happy… then, of course there was the time you delivered Jessie's cat tree creation to Eddie & Freddy. These examples just represent how cat-centric, caring, and kind you have always been! Promise that you will keep up with us and visit often!

It is hard to imagine this campus without you, but it is so easy to imagine you making your mark at Tech! Love You so much!"

"Hefward, we appreciate you. More than just the captain of B team, Willcox's TA, or even as head prefect. We know Fent as a role model, an idol, someone to keep us in line.

Ed, thank you for the time you dedicated to setting up these goofballs for the rest of high school, whether it's helping us practice smash or asking if my graphic design was symmetrical.

And Fientress, we wish you the absolute best at Georgia Tech, even if it means we're on our own now. Go on and do great things; just don't forget the random kids you imprinted on at Mount Vernon.

You mean so much to me, but of course you already know that because I say it all the time. You truly are one of my best friends and I can't wait to spend the next 4 (or 5) years together. I feel very privileged to have a front row seat to all the future shenanigans but more importantly your growth. We both know you're going to do great things. Like blow up children. Anyways. You're the first to notice if someone is feeling down or being left out. I really appreciate you looking out for me. High school is hard, and making friends is harder, but I hope you know that you know that you're a person who made it easier. I can be kinda annoying so I appreciate you tolerating me all these years. So to answer the question "what does herris mean to me", well I can only say a true, loving, and supportive friend. My rizz coach, my buddy- I love you so much man 🫶, thank you for everything. I can't wait for our next adventures. Remember, once you shenaned once, you will shenanigan.
